for the past two years, nils frahm has been building a brand new studio in berlin to make his 7th studio album titled all melody, which will be released on january 26th, 2018 via erased tapes, before nils embarks on his first world tour since 2015.
since the day nils first encountered the impressive studio of a family friend, he had envisioned to create one of his own at such a large scale. fast forward to the present day and nils is now the proud host of saal 3, part of the historical 1950s east german funkhaus building beside the river spree. it is here where he has spent most of his time deconstructing and reconstructing the entire space from the cabling and electricity to the woodwork, before moving on to the finer elements, building a pipe organ and creating a mixing desk all from scratch with the help of his friends. this is somewhere music can be nurtured and not neglected, and where he can somewhat fulfil his pursuit of presenting music to the world as close to his imagination as possible.

siegmar fricke describes his music as -dynamic dancable collage-pop with a 90s technoid tendency-. the music on this release is made by yamaha sampling- keyboards, yamaha multieffects, synthesizers and 60s magnetic tape recorder, recorded on a four-track tascam tape-machine. from 1987 – 1993 he produced twenty four cassette releases, some on his former label bestattungsinstitut and some on other tape-labels all around the globe. this vinyl is a fine selection of various tapes from 1988 – 1993 slightly edited for club use and remastered by berlin s masterchef kitaro from schnittstelle. heavy underground dancematerial for the first time on vinyl!!! comes with a strong extended dancefloor remix by manfredas.

taylor freels has built quite a strong catalog over the years. his work under his urulu moniker, is widely regarded as top quality deep house and the banshee ep continues in this fashion. the title track has a dreamlike atmosphere to it. the banshee is a work that will strike a chord with lovers of the ocean-influenced sounds and hazy atmospheres. a strong presence of strings and dubby sounds, create a certain laidback mood that is perfect for sun drenched days in the park. chicagoan producer garrett david builds on the hazy atmospheres of the original, while adding some melodic elements to his remix of the banshee where he cleverly shifts between scales and different moods.
quadrant beat is a warm track that is built around warm chords and fashionable drum sounds. again, urulu makes sure to weave some outgoing dub elements into this b-side opening track. romance track is most likely one of the berlin based producer’s most melodic works to date. beautifully executed piano hits flow together seemingly easy over a sturdy rhythm that serves as the track’s backbone. the banshee ep is a work of lush deep house and an excellent addition to both urulu’s repertoire and the saft label catalog.

beauty and the beast is the latest in the series of special limited edition david bowie 7- picture discs being released and will be out on 5th january 2018, almost 40 years to the day of its original release on 6th january 1978. beauty and the beast was the second single taken from the album heroes, the second of the berlin trilogy albums recorded with tony visconti and brian eno at the legendary hansa studios in berlin. the track also features robert fripp of king crimson on lead guitar, who claims that his guitar was all recorded in his first take. the a-side of the 7- picture disc features the track with newly remastered audio, mixed by long-time bowie collaborator tony visconti. the aa-side is a previously unreleased live version of blackout, recorded live at deutschlandhalle, berlin on 16th may 1978 during the isolar ii tour.

lottus got this deep and old school flavour touch, driving and sweat at the same time, this one is for franck the highlight of his new ep,so no big words on this one. it s a lottus love affair here. air is a cosmic journey into franck s synthetic drum sounds, passing thru his famous space echo 201 made back in the days by roland..the machine got some natural errors and goes with the tape delay feelings.. it s all about movements and space rythms here.christal is using the famous 909 drum machine and 808 toms.. this one goes very deep into our mind with strange vocals wich franck got the secret to play with, it s a sentimental and emotionnal song, cute for some people but very relaxing after all to complete this ep.my name is was originaly out on franck s realtone records imprint. it came out with two different versions.the track received some good feedbacks and plays so far and our dear friend berlin based alexkid came back to us with his own edit and we definitly loved it but we were very busy with the releases.. this edit has been lost in our hard drives and now franck is more than happy to give it a new life.

cape town duo christian tiger school provide the 3rd part of the lissoms series. both graduates of the red bull music academy and part of the sónar line-up this summer - they’ve previously posted an lp for the mighty tommy boy & remixes for subpop, and had their work remixed by luminaries like mndsgn.
“if you want to” embodies their sound and the fervent cape town beats scene aptly - esoteric uk influences sit amongst ambient soundscapes and a cracked breakbeat, pinned on a looped bassline - growing in intensity but using the most subtle of touches.
gacha bakradze’s version posits the track somewhere between slow-burning disco and krautrock, framing the character of the original with loose jams on his array of studio gear.
finally, edmondson’s version is a minimal, 2-steppy take honed by the berlin sounds which have pricked his ears for the last couple of years.

berlin based japanese industrial synth duo group a make their debut on mannequin records with a killer 3-tracks self titled ep. tommi tokyo (synth, drum machine, vocals) and sayaka botanic (violin, tapes and sampler) released 2 studio albums and 1 live album in tokyo, before to move in berlin in 2016. with their mixture of dark minimal synth, avant-noise, striking visuals and performance art, the duo still carries on the very breath of early industrial pioneers such as throbbing gristle, die form, klinik, cabaret voltaire. the ep was recorded in tommi s bedroom and later mixed together with mannequin records head alessandro adriani in his own studio in berlin. the first two tracks of the ep, t.o.p. and ketabali represents the duo personal reaction against the current economy, an up yours to capitalism, news and politics, all permeated by industrial rhytmic-noises and words with no meaning. the b2 alibi instead was inspired by an autobiography of hi-red centre(japanese avant-grade art group in the 60-70 s) written by one of the members, genpei akasegawa. tommi found the word alibi in the book and she just started singing about the group. as she never wrote lyrics for that, during their live performances they are always improvised, so changing and mutating every time.

first release on trevor jacksons new unreleased archive recordings label pre- is a timeless collection of twisted techno, militant ebm and filthy electro produced by jackson himself and featuring vocals from douglas (nitzer ebb) mcarthy & chloe from c.a.r. originally produced in 2003 as a playgroup side project, pinklunch made its debut with a demo track on a dj hell international deejay gigolo compilation, tracks also appeared on compilations for the exclusive parisian department store collette and the berlin club f.u.n. the album lay in hibernation for nearly 15 years, gathering digital dust, rediscovered in 2014 trevor lovingly re-edited and remastered the original mixes as well as getting guest vocalists douglas mcarthy from nitzer ebb and chloe from c.a.r to appear on two tracks.
